Powered by OverDrive, is a collection of downloadable ebooks, audiobooks, and magazines that you can access with an active library card number and an internet connection. OverDrive has an app: Libby.
1. How do I get started with downloading eBooks to my device?
All you need to get started is an internet connection and a Magness Library card. Kindles and Nooks will first need to be registered with Amazon or Barnes and Noble. All devices have separate instructions for borrowing eBooks.
2. How many books can I check out and how long can I keep them?
You can check out up to 15 titles. You can choose a checkout period of 7, 14, or 21 days. If you are a new OverDrive user, your lending periods will default to 7 days. You can change your lending periods on My Account under Settings.
3. How do I return an eBook?
All titles are automatically returned at the end of their lending periods, so you never have to worry about late fees. Once you download a title, you may be able to return it using the software or app that you used to download it. We have patron guides for specific devices available above with return instructions toward the bottom of each guide.
4. How do I renew an eBook?
Renewing digital titles works a little differently than renewing physical books from the library. When you renew a digital title, it doesn't extend your lending period. Instead, it lets you borrow the title again immediately after your current checkout expires (if there are no existing holds) or it places you on the wait list to borrow the title again as soon as possible (if there are existing holds). You'll see the option to renew a title three days before it's set to expire. A Request again button will appear under the title on your Loans page.
